Institut für Physik der Ernst Moritz Arndt Universität Greifswald
The new building of the Physics Institute at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald is dominated
by the auditorium protruding into the open inner courtyard. This unusual architectonic situation
is the precondition for the artistic intervention, which consists of a brilliant blue sculpture that
seems to be in flux. The sculpture depicts the physical phenomenon of the adhesion of a material
that rigidifies precisely at the moment when a droplet seems to form and separate. Architecture,
the physics curriculum of the department, and art are here brought together in an allegorical unity.
