Hohe Kante
Federal Finance Ministry Berlin, DE (not realised) 2002
Commissioned by Bundesministerium der Finanzen
The work relates explicitly to the site of the extension building of the Federal Finance Ministry, namely the ca. 19-meter-high, 35-meter-broad concrete wall of the light well. Here, glass shelves are mounted over the entire height of the wall; on the shelves are more than 500 colored piggy banks of various sizes. Piggy banks are the most obvious symbol of the individual’s dealings with money. The work humorously describes the relationship between the state and the individual. The overall image is also a formal analogy to the calculating device, the abacus.
