Langer Banker

Forecourt of the DEKA Bank, LU 2001

A figure about 7 meters high stands in front of the bank building in Luxembourg. It depicts a person of normal body circumference but stretched to a height of 7 meters, who thus looks extremely slender and stretched. A closer look shows the figure to be an English banker with his typical, but here of course also stretched accessories: umbrella, briefcase, and possibly also a bowler hat. As an emblem of an entire occupational group, he indicates the use of the building behind him. The scale of the long banker triggers humorous associations of growth, success, optimization, and profit. The unusual stature is visible from afar and has a character emblematic for the bank building.
