Nice To See You

New Children’s Hospital at Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen NO 2022

Two cartoon-like figures, seeming as if from a dream, are positioned in the garden. The tall, upright pair of glasses and a green-eared hare looking up out of the ground form an odd couple in the garden, between which a rich narrative can unfold that displays relations to the architecture, the surrounding landscape, and the function of the site. While the glasses can be perceived as a metaphor for foresight and a prospect, or scientific conscientiousness, the hare is bound to the soil and nature and takes the perspective of the children. In this way, the surrealistic couple, held both in the same and in complementary colors, can launch a humorous game with scale and opposites.
