Wild Horses

KAiAK Art + Architecture in Alt Köpenick, Berlin, DE 2008

Two lifesize horses made out of bronze are installed on the Schlossplatz in the old city of Berlin-Köpenick. They are the exact copy of the two famous equestrian-monuments: „Der große Kurfürst“ and „Friedrich II“.
They differentiate from the original by having lost the horseman as well as the plinth. The freerange horses now run towards the Köpenick Castle, which is cut off from the old city by an arterial road build in the seventies. The sculptures picture the distorted formal structure of the historical city. They invite you by their anarchic behaviour to rethink common images of political power.
